Stará hora Merlot 2022

This wine is made from grapes grown in the 22-year-old Stará hora vineyard, with a reduced yield of 1.3 kg per vine. It fermented in open vessels with daily pumping over of the mash with fermenting must; it remained in contact with the skins for another 25 days after the completion of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, then aged for 13 months in Mercurey M Prime and Mercurey GC 3Y barrique barrels. Dark red color with a distinct ruby rim (meniscus). High viscosity. Clean, intense, noble aroma reminiscent of dried fruit, nuts, sweet paprika, and fresh herbs. The palate is clean, balanced, and full of black fruit with a spicy note and a long finish. We recommend pairing it with a beef steak and mashed potatoes or braised beef with mushroom sauce.
